Investing in Chicago's Educational Future
Building a stronger Chicago through educational investments that empower individuals and communities for lasting success.
Hope Chicago
TCV supports Hope Chicago, whose mission is to create pathways to success for multiple generations of Chicagoans through equitable access to higher education. By removing the barriers that hold low-income, first-generation college students back, they strive to shrink the racial wealth gap, uplifting families, and entire communities.
Donor’s Choose
In 2022, TCV initiated a targeted grant to support DonorsChoose Music & the Arts programs in Equity Focus Schools in Chicago. The Equity Focus aim is to ensure that teachers working in low-income communities receive as much funding as their peers in higher-income communities. At its completion, 153 schools participated, and the grant fully funded 296 projects. 100% of projects were from schools with the majority of students from low-income households, 232 teachers had projects fully funded and 27 teachers had their first-ever project funded. This is an annual partnership, increasing in scope and scale each year.
Illinois Student Invention Convention
TCV donated to the Illinois Student Invention Convention to help make the 11th annual Chicago Student Invention Convention a success, with over 300 people attending to celebrate the top 70 student winners out of the 2,500 participants. The convention is for students interested in STEAM to learn and practice problem solving, innovation and entrepreneurship. TFO believes all students should have access to technology, STEM, and digital literacy to encourage a next generation of innovators.
